Bjørn Wiinblad (1918–2006) was a Danish artist, illustrator, and designer, renowned for his fantastical universe and immediately recognizable decorative style. In contrast to the functionalist rigor of Scandinavian design, he developed a language rich in colors, fairy-tale figures, floral motifs, and elaborate compositions.

Inspired by theater, music, fairy tales, and Eastern art, Wiinblad worked with ceramics, porcelain, graphic design, textiles, and set design. His works are often populated by fantastical characters, musicians, and theatrical figures, transforming everyday objects into fully illustrated narratives.

His long collaboration with Rosenthal, which began in 1957, was fundamental; for the company, he created some of his most iconic works. His work represents an original and joyful interpretation of twentieth-century design, suspended between art, decoration, and imagination.
