Manifattura Artistica Le Porcellane, founded in 1948 through the vision of Mario Sernesi, is a historic company with deep roots in the prestigious artisanal tradition of the Florence area.
Established in Florence immediately after the Second World War and historically associated with the Sesto Fiorentino district, the company is now located in Campi Bisenzio. Its production represents the ideal synthesis of the ancient expertise of high-fired kaolin processing and eclectic, cosmopolitan luxury.
The porcelain produced by this manufactory is fired at extremely high temperatures (up to 1330 ∘ C). This process completely vitrifies the clay body, ensuring the objects have excellent compactness, a pure, translucent white color, and the characteristic clear resonance of high-end production.
The iconic gilding is not simple paint, but consists of meticulously hand-applied 24-karat pure gold or pure platinum. After being brushed on, the precious metals undergo a third firing (at a lower temperature) to fuse them permanently with the glaze, and are finally hand-burnished with agate stones to achieve maximum brilliance.
Initially focused on sumptuous forms inspired by the Baroque and Neoclassical styles—as demonstrated by the richly decorated “all-over” vases and the complex zoomorphic sculptures of birds with geometric and scale patterns—the manufactory has successfully embraced modernity. Today, it also offers contemporary collections with clean, geometric, sculptural lines, collaborating with prominent designers such as Salvatore Spataro.
