Giuseppe Cesetti (Tuscania, March 10, 1902 – Venice, 1990) was an important Italian painter of the 20th century.

Born in Tuscania, in the province of Viterbo, to a family of farmers, Cesetti spent his childhood in Maremma, an experience that profoundly influenced his art, with the representation of rural landscapes, animals, and scenes of peasant life. He was essentially self-taught, although he studied the great masters of the past during his travels in Italy.
In 1939 he obtained the chair of drawing at the Artistic High School of Venice and, the following year, that of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice, where he taught for many years. Venice became his adopted city.
His painting is influenced by various styles, including Italian Renaissance painting, realism, and Lombard chiaroscuro. His style is characterized by a great attention to light and color, with a material brushstroke and strong expressiveness.

Cesetti's preferred subjects include rural landscapes of the Maremma, with fields, grazing animals, and scenes of peasant life.
Still life with fruit, flowers, and everyday objects, characterized by a balanced composition and great attention to detail.
Portraits and human figures, often immersed in a melancholic and introspective atmosphere.
Horses and oxen, which represent a connection to his childhood and his homeland.

Cesetti participated in important exhibitions, including several editions of the Venice Biennale (where he also had a personal room in 1956) and the Quadriennale of Rome.
