Giampiero (or Gianpietro) Tonetti is an Italian designer, born in Cremona in 1958. He lives and works in Lodi. He is mainly known for his work in product design, rather than fine arts (such as painting or sculpture). His design career began in 1977 as a freelance consultant for furniture companies. In 1983 he founded his studio, Dimensioni s.a.s., which became Tonetti Design s.a.s. in 2011.

Tonetti's work has spanned various industrial sectors, ranging from furniture to designing a wide range of consumer products. He has developed solid technical knowledge of production processes and material potentials, evident in his projects.

His main field is industrial design, creating functional and aesthetically pleasing products for various sectors. He designs furniture (such as coffee tables), lighting (such as desk lamps), and other consumer goods.

He won the Compasso d'Oro in 1989 for "Boomerang", a pharmacy drawer system produced by Icas. The Compasso d'Oro is one of the most prestigious design awards in Italy. He has designed for several brands, including Progetti (for which he designed the desk lamp "Cosi" in the '80s), F.lli Orsenigo, Makris, Stiliac, Dexo, and Gedy.

His projects often use materials such as acrylic glass (PMMA), metal (steel), wood (oak, MDF), glass, ceramics, natural stone (marble), and plant fibers (rope). Some of his works, like the desk lamp "Cosi", are characterized by a postmodern style, especially those from the '80s.
