Rodolfo Paoletti (Venice, 1866 – Milan, 1940) was an Italian painter active between the late nineteenth century and the early twentieth century. He is especially known for his views of Venice, but he also dedicated himself to illustration and other subjects.
Born in Venice in 1866, Rodolfo Paoletti was artistically trained in an environment influenced by the great Venetian painting tradition of the 19th century, characterized by a particular attention to landscape and atmospheric rendering.
Subsequently, he moved to Milan, an important cultural and publishing center, where he successfully dedicated himself to illustration for various publications. This did not prevent him from continuing his work as a painter.
Paoletti's painting is linked to the nineteenth-century vedute tradition, with a particular focus on the realistic depiction of places and the effect of light.
His views of Venice are among his most appreciated works, featuring representations of canals, gondolas, palaces, and characteristic glimpses of the lagoon city.
He used a thick painting technique, with a dense and textured brushstroke, which gave his works great vibrancy and a sense of immediacy.
She favored a palette of bright and vibrant colors, with particular attention to the shades and reflections of water.
