Pair of wall lamps model "Acheo," made by Gianfranco Frattini for Artemide in the 1980s. The diffuser is made of borosilicate glass tube and the structure is chrome metal.

Gianfranco Frattini (1926-2004) was an important Italian architect and designer, considered a key figure in the Italian design movement between the late '50s and the '60s. He graduated in architecture from the Politecnico di Milano in 1953 and later worked in the studio of his mentor, Gio Ponti, before opening his own studio in Milan.

Frattini's work ranged from industrial design to architecture, with particular attention to interiors. He was a co-founder of ADI (Association for Industrial Design) in 1956. He collaborated with numerous renowned companies, including Cassina, Bernini, Arteluce, Acerbis, Fantoni, Luci, Knoll, Lema, and, of course, Artemide. His projects often showed a mix of functionality, aesthetics, and high craftsmanship quality, with a notable preference for woodwork.

Artemide is a renowned Italian lighting manufacturer, celebrated worldwide for its design-oriented approach and commitment to innovation. Founded in 1960 by Ernesto Gismondi and Sergio Mazza, the company is headquartered in Pregnana Milanese, in the province of Milan.
