Space Age Plexiglass Table Lamp by Elio Martinelli 1970s

Double-light plexiglass table lamp (one bulb above and three inside), Space Age era, made by Elio Martinelli in the 1960s

Ø 38 cm, height 37 cm

Table lamp designed by Elio Martinelli, characterized by a large body with soft, rounded forms, topped by a spherical element. The white surface is defined by thin black outlines, which emphasize its geometry and give the piece a strong graphic character.

Elio Martinelli (1921–2004), founder of Martinelli Luce in 1950, was one of the leading figures in Italian design in the second half of the 20th century. His approach to lighting is distinguished by the use of essential geometric forms, innovative materials and experimental technical solutions, often inspired by the organic forms of nature.

The lamp fully reflects this language: light, function and sculptural form come together in a piece with an almost futuristic presence, representative of Italian design research between the 1960s and 1970s.
