Sesto Fiorentino is a historic Tuscan town known for its large production of ceramics known and appreciated throughout Europe. There Sestese ceramics includes a long history, but let's see how in modern times a great moment began with the founding of the Ginori manufacture which took place in 1737 at the behest of the Marquis Carlo Ginori. Even today it represents one of the oldest porcelain manufactories within the European landscape made with great skill and refined techniques. The realization of the porcelain takes place with forms of gypsum blocks where the ceramic mixture was lowered and then the piece was baked and decorated. From the very beginning, majolicas were made that were based on sixteenth-century models, porcelain of great artistic value, tableware in the finest "eggshell" porcelain and custom-made crockery.

In the 20s and 30s of the twentieth century the innovative line designed by Gio Ponti imposed new stylistic canons, but there was always particular attention to the artistic aspects expressed in the creation of shapes, refined decorations inspired by the stylistic canons that from time to time once surfaced in the panorama of the arts: we pass from neo-classicism, to the style of the empire up to the liberty style. To enhance the history and tradition of Sesto ceramics, theArchive of the Ceramica Sestese which preserves thousands of finds, models and forms in plaster with photographic reproductions of objects and of the factory itself as evidence of the extraordinary manufacturing of the Tuscan territory.
