Bruno Cassinari (Piacenza, 1912 – Milan, 1992) was one of the leading figures in 20th-century Italian painting. After his artistic training in Milan, he came into contact with the cultural milieu associated with the Corrente movement, sharing its interest in painting free from official conventions and open to new European artistic experiences.

Over the years, Cassinari developed a personal language in which figurative tradition met post-Cubist and Expressionist influences. His relationship with color was fundamental: intense and richly textured, it was used to construct forms and volumes through vibrant color fields, bold contrasts, and strongly defined contours.

The human figure occupies a central role in his work, alongside portraits, still lifes, flowers, and landscapes. His experience in Antibes, in the south of France, was also particularly significant, where the Mediterranean light helped make his palette brighter and more intense.

Featured in important national and international exhibitions, including several editions of the Venice Biennale, Cassinari developed throughout his career an immediately recognizable style of painting, capable of combining expressive power, chromatic sensitivity, and a constant exploration of form.
