Loetz is a name that immediately evokes images of artistic glass of extraordinary beauty and refinement. This Bohemian manufacturer, founded in the 19th century, has become famous throughout the world for its one-of-a-kind creations, which helped define the Art Nouveau style.

The story of Loetz begins in 1850 in Klostermühle, Bohemia (now the Czech Republic). Under the leadership of Johann Loetz, the glassworks specialized in the production of artistic glass, experimenting with new techniques and colors.

Loetz is known for his use of bright, intense colors, often achieved through the application of layers of colored glass and the creation of iridescent effects.
The shapes of Loetz pieces are often inspired by nature, with curved and sinuous lines that recall flowers, plants and animals.
The manufacture experiments with different glass processing techniques, including the superposition of layers of colored glass, gilding and silvering.

Loetz played a vital role in the development of Art Nouveau, an artistic movement that influenced architecture, decorative arts, and visual arts in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Art Nouveau style is characterized by curved lines, floral motifs and a particular attention to nature.
