Giovanni Poggi was born in 1932 and is a renowned and highly respected ceramicist, considered one of the pillars of Albissola’s ceramic tradition. He was one of the founders of the celebrated Ceramiche San Giorgio (active in Albissola Marina since 1958), a ceramics workshop that collaborated with internationally renowned artists such as Lucio Fontana, Asger Jorn, and Wifredo Lam, becoming a landmark for contemporary ceramic art.
Giovanni Poggi is a master of wheel-throwing and traditional decoration, yet he has also been able to engage in dialogue with the artistic avant-garde.
