Henry Markò, a descendant of the Austrian painting dynasty founded by Andrea Markò, was born in Florence in 1855. His works primarily express his sensitivity to nature, with a romantic vein inherited from 19th-century trends. His preferred subjects are mainly linked to the Tuscan and Ligurian hinterlands, but he also painted city panoramas of Florence, Rome, and Genoa. He died in 1921 in Lavagna (Genoa).
