Deruta ceramics are one of the most authentic and appreciated expressions of Italian craftsmanship. Originating from the Umbrian town of the same name, this art form boasts a thousand-year-old tradition that is handed down from generation to generation, keeping the charm and beauty of its creations intact.

The origins of Deruta ceramics are lost in the mists of time. Already in Roman times, there were kilns in the area for the production of terracotta objects. However, it was in the Middle Ages that Deruta ceramic art reached its maximum splendor, thanks to the influence of the Arabs and Byzantines who introduced new techniques and decorations.

Deruta ceramics stand out for the bright and intense colors used, obtained through the use of natural metal oxides such as copper, cobalt and manganese.
The decorations are rich and varied, inspired by nature, mythology and everyday life. Among the most recurring motifs are flowers, fruit, animals and human figures.
Most Deruta ceramics are made with the majolica technique, which consists of covering the object with a white patina and decorating it with colored glazes.
