Barovier & Toso is a glassworks known for its handcrafted collections of decorative Murano glass during the 20th century. Angelo Barovier’s chemical innovations in the production of crystal glass shaped the earliest collections, which consisted of bottles and objects in colored glass. Further innovations subsequently led to the creation of a series of designs using multicolored murrine.
In the 1930s, they began experimenting with heavier glass forms featuring irregular surfaces and handles. In 1942, Barovier joined forces with the Toso brothers, other important glassmakers, to form Barovier & Toso, based at Palazzo Contarini in Murano.
The company preserves traditional techniques while incorporating contemporary styles and forms.
This table lamp is made entirely of Murano glass, both the body and the base, with a brass insert. The glass colors are expertly crafted and bring warmth to the surroundings.
