Eliseo Sala (1813-1879) was an important Italian painter, particularly renowned for his portraits. He was a student at the Brera Academy in Milan and later studied in Venice and Rome.

Sala excelled at portraiture, capturing the likeness and character of his subjects with great skill. His portraits often depicted members of the Italian aristocracy and bourgeoisie.
