From the late 1970s, Alessandro Mendini was among the innovators of Italian design. He worked for numerous companies, including Alessi, Venini, Bisazza, Cartier, Hermès, Supreme NYC, Swatch, Swarovski, and many others. He received numerous international awards, including Italy’s industrial design award, the Compasso d’Oro, in 1979; in 1981 together with the Studio Alchimia; and in 2014 for his lifetime’s work. He edited many architecture magazines, including Domus, Casabella, and Modo, which he founded himself.
