Loetz is a name that immediately evokes images of artistic glass of extraordinary beauty and refinement. This Bohemian manufactory, founded in the 19th century, became famous worldwide for its unique creations, which helped define the Art Nouveau style.

The history of Loetz begins in 1850 in Klostermühle, Bohemia (now the Czech Republic). Under the guidance of Johann Loetz, the glassworks specialized in the production of artistic glass, experimenting with new techniques and colors.

Loetz is known for the use of vivid and intense colors, often achieved through the application of layers of colored glass and the creation of iridescent effects.
The shapes of Loetz pieces are often inspired by nature, with curved and sinuous lines that evoke flowers, plants, and animals.
The manufactory experimented with various glassworking techniques, including layering colored glass, gilding, and silvering.

Loetz played a fundamental role in the development of Art Nouveau, an artistic movement that influenced architecture, decorative arts, and visual arts at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. The Art Nouveau style is characterized by curved lines, floral motifs, and a particular attention to nature.
