Giovanni Omiccioli was an important Italian painter associated with the Scuola Romana (School of Rome) art movement.

Lived from February 25, 1901 to March 1, 1975, he is known for his dynamic paintings depicting scenes from football matches and other sports.
He gained popularity especially among the Romans for his energetic portraits; he has earned the title of symbolic painter of Via Margutta, a famous street in Rome known for his artistic scene.

Giovanni Omiccioli belonged to the modern artistic movement of the Roman School: he collaborated with well-known artists of the movement including Mario Mafai and Antonietta Raphael.
He has actively exhibited his work throughout his career. Some notable exhibitions include the Roman Quadrennials and the Venice Biennials.

He was active in the political life of the time and, together with other artists, co-created the first title of the Italian communist newspaper L'Unità.
