Gualdo Tadino is inextricably linked to its ceramic tradition. This Umbrian town is renowned throughout the world for the production of artistic majolica with gold and ruby metallic reflections, a technique that has made its ceramics one of a kind.

The origins of ceramics in Gualdo Tadino date back to the 14th century, but it was from the 16th century that we witnessed a real development of production, with the emergence of important families of ceramists such as the Pignani and the Biagioli.

The luster technique, which gives Gualdo Tadino ceramics its characteristic metallic reflections, was introduced by Mastro Giorgio Andreoli of Gubbio. This technique consists in applying, on a first firing, a mixture of metallic salts which, subjected to a second firing at high temperature, produces iridescent golden and ruby reflections.

The most distinctive feature of Gualdo Tadino ceramics is lustre, a technique that gives the majolica golden and ruby metallic reflections, obtained through a particular firing process.
The decorative motifs are often inspired by nature, religion and mythology.
Gualdo Tadino ceramics are made with high quality clays and worked by skilled craftsmen, guaranteeing a finished product of great value.
